With an undisguised burden of helplessness, frustration and sadness, we must announce that the Paracycling BIRA, which has been organized by this entity for 20 years, and that was scheduled to take place on June 23th and 24th, will not be able to be convened at all.
The impossibility of guaranteeing to the potential participants the proper safety and care conditions that they deserve as athletes, leads us to make the decision to send this determination to the UCI and to make it public through the usual channels of information.
We hope that, by not having made any public announcement other than positioning it in the RFEC and UCI calendar, and not having opened the deadline for registration, we’ll able to minimize the negative impacts on planning competitive cycling and teams scheduled. We are very aware, in any case, that there were dozens of para cyclists who had reserved the dates of the summer equinox to came to Bizkaia to compete with us. To all of them, as Paracycling BIRA Organization Committee, we all turn to offer with humility our deepest apologies and to thank everyone for the trust that always have been deposited in us.
We announce our commitment to convene this appointment with the best of cycling for the next year and, of course, already starting to work to solve the problems with which we have met this year, to organize the next XXI edition of the Bira as the best in its history.
C’est avec une visible et grande impuissance, frustration et tristesse qu’on doit annoncer que la Paracycling BIRA, mise en œuvre par notre organisation depuis 20 ans et prévue pour le 23 et le 24 juin, ne pourra pas avoir lieu finalement.
Le fait de ne pas pouvoir assurer aux participants potentiels les conditions de sécurité et d’accueil qu’ils méritent en tant que sportifs nous pousse à prendre cette décision et à la communiquer à l’UCI ainsi qu’à la rendre publique par les moyens d’information habituels.
Étant donné qu’on n’avait effectué aucune démarche officielle autrement que celle de fixer la date au calendrier de compétition de la RFEC y de l’UCI, c’est pourquoi on n’avait pas ouvert les inscriptions, on espère minimiser les dommages sur la planification au niveau de la compétition faite par les cyclistes et leurs équipes. On sait bien, toutefois, qu’on comptait par dizaines les paracyclistes qui avaient bloqué les journées de l’équinoxe d’été pour se déplacer à Bizkaia afin de participer à notre compétition. On tient à leur présenter, à eux tous et en toute humilité, des excuses ainsi qu’à leur remercier pour la confiance qu’ils nous ont toujours accordée.
On annonce notre engagement pour convoquer ce rendez-vous avec la crème du cyclisme l’année prochaine. On commence, dès maintenant, à travailler pour remédier aux problèmes que nous avons rencontrés cette année afin de faire de celle qui sera la XXIè session de la Bira la meilleure de son histoire.
Con una no disimulada carga de impotencia, frustración y tristeza tenemos que anunciar que la Paracycling BIRA, que desde hace 20 años organiza esta entidad, y que estaba previsto realizar los dias 23 y 24 de junio, no podrá convocarse finalmente.
La imposibilidad de garantizar a los potenciales participantes, las condiciones de seguridad y atención que como deportistas merecen, nos lleva a tomar la decisión de remitir a la UCI esta determinación y a hacerla pública por los canales habituales de información.
Esperamos que, al no haber realizado convocatoria pública alguna más allá de posicionarla en el calendario de la RFEC y de la UCI, y el no haber abierto, por tanto, plazo de inscripción en la misma, se minimicen los impactos negativos que sobre la planificación competitiva de ciclistas y equipos éstos tuvieran. Somos muy conscientes, en todo caso, de que eran decenas los paraciclistas que tenían reservadas las fechas del equinocio de verano para acudir a Bizkaia a competir con nosotros y a todos ellos nos volvemos para ofrcerles con humildad disculpas y para agradecer la confianza que en nosotros siempre han depositado.
Anunciamos nuestro compromiso de convocar esta cita con el mejor de los ciclismos en el año próximo y, desde ya, nos ponemos a trabajar para resolver los problemas con los que en este año nos hemos encontrado, a fin de hacer, de la que será la XXI edición de la Bira, la mejor de su historia.
